Position Summary
The Business Project Leader, International will be responsible for driving and implementing strategic business projects in the EMEA region and will have P&L responsibility for such strategic initiatives. Business projects will include next to others respective build-or-buy projects to create new country organizations within the respective region, and thereby converting new or indirect markets to direct markets. The role will coordinate cross-functional support for the successful transformation of international distributor arrangements to hybrid and/or direct sales models for current and future products. The role will ensure seamless coordination, communication, and cooperation with supporting functions and internal and external stakeholders. They will lead and coordinate all efforts to prepare for direct market launch and transfer accountability to respective country managers once the market and enabling infrastructure is established. The role will also lead the conceptualization and implementation of strategic projects with partners to optimize the infrastructure of the International Business Unit across the region for existing products and new product launches. Thereby the Business project leader will work seamlessly together with Corporate Business Development and other relevant internal functions. This role requires strategic thinking, cross-functional collaboration, strong communication, and team leadership across a matrix organization.
This position is based in Switzerland and will require ability to travel up to 50% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.
Essential duties
Including but not limited to
- Lead business projects and provide implementation oversight to convert new and/or indirect distributor markets into hybrid/direct markets
- Lead business integration of new organizations acquired by Exact Sciences in the respective regions
- Lead conceptualization and implementation of strategic partnerships with 3rd party organizations in the region which support the broadening and optimization of the commercial and operational infrastructure in the respective region
- Lead other business projects in the region to accelerate commercial growth in the region (e.g. partnership with cross-region health systems)
- Identify all critical internal and external success factors for the conversion of indirect markets and ensure all essential requirements of conversion are met in time and in quality
- Identify in close cooperation with other functions (e.g., market access, legal, finance, country sales teams, etc.) the phasing and staging of how to convert indirect markets
- Identify and leverage regional/country opportunities in support of a successful market conversion
- Ensure seamless transfer of commercial product accountability to regional sales teams after successful conversion
- Ensure business plans are seamlessly aligned with the international lab strategy
- Closely collaborate with the corporate business development team as required
- Collaborate with the compliance function to minimize compliance risk in direct markets
- Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork
- Support and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures

Minimum Qualifications
- 7+ years of professional experience in commercial/business roles within diagnostics, medical devices, or related healthcare field
- Direct experience converting international indirect/distributor markets to direct sales models
- Insights in commercial, market access, and governmental affairs in international markets
- Strong business acumen, strategic thinker, self-starter, entrepreneurial spirit
- Excellent program and project management skills
- Strong communicator and influencer to help foster, build, and maintain strong relationships
- Demonstrated experience leading multiple, simultaneous, complex projects and meeting challenging timelines and business objectives
- Strong experience in organizational and business transformation
- Internationally minded and experience in different cultural settings
- Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation
Preferred Qualifications
- Multi-lingual beyond English
- 10+ years experience and strong track record in building, leading, and managing agile teams, cross-functional matrix organizations, and large-scale/globally organized projects
- Strong and proven track record in molecular diagnostics and/or precision medicine in leadership roles
