Position Overview
The Clinical Laboratory Administrative Intern is an exciting opportunity for a candidate looking to kick start their career in a clinical laboratory. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, detail-oriented, eager to work and learn in a fast-paced environment and has a strong sense of ownership and accountability. The Clinical Laboratory Administrative Intern will support the Clinical Lab Managers with day-to-day operations, as well as provide supporting services in the laboratory under supervision. This position reports to the Clinical Laboratory Manager.
This role is intended to be a full-time internship opportunity, during Summer 2025, and will be based in Madison, WI.
Essential Duties
Include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Completes administrative duties such as monitoring the Quality Management System, safety incidents, and scheduling and coordinating meetings as assigned.
- Assists with coordinating tours.
- Performs assigned tasks in Preanalytical, Analytical lab and other departments as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Responsible for own professional development.
- Observes principles of data security and patient confidentiality.
- Support and comply with company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures.
- Maintains ethical standards in the performance of testing and in interactions with patients, co-workers, and other health care professionals.
- Will participate in continuing education and staff meetings as needed.
- Demonstrates adaptability by embracing changes in the laboratory with a positive attitude.
- May assist in development of objectives, learning activities, and evaluation mechanisms.
- Complies with safety and hazard regulations as outlined in the Clinical Laboratory safety Policies.
- Maintains a clean and safe laboratory environment.
- Develops proficiency with laboratory information system.
- Coordinates general workflow in assigned area.
- Remains informed of procedure updates and changes.
- Uphold company mission and values through accountability, innovation, integrity, quality, and teamwork.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Ability to act with an inclusion mindset and model these behaviors for the organization.
- Contributes to a cohesive and collaborative team environment.
- Remains flexible to work a variable schedule that includes weekend and holidays and overtime.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Ability to lift to 40 pounds for approximately 25% of a typical working day.
- Ability to work seated for approximately 50% of a typical working day. Ability to work standing for approximately 50% of a typical working day.
- Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 75% of a typical working day.
- Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Excellent attention to detail and organization skills.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree with a focus in STEM.
Salary Range:
$34,000.00 - $54,000.00The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis.
