Overview of the role
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our Trade Finance team. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the world of commodity trading and structured trade finance. You will work closely with experienced professionals, supporting various aspects of trade finance operations and helping facilitate smooth transaction flows.
Please note: This internship is exclusively available to students from the University of Geneva who require this experience as a mandatory part of their Master of Science in Commodity Trading. Candidates must possess a valid Decision of Admission to a program of the University of Geneva.
Main responsibilities
As a Trade Finance Intern, you will support the team in the following areas:

Assist with arranging transaction financing through bilateral and syndicated facilities

Support the management of TPA accounts and lot allocations

Help update and follow up on the company’s financial positions/outstandings with banks
-
Support in monitoring counterparty risk exposure and ensuring alignment with internal credit policy

Assist with discounting operations to optimize cost and liquidity

Contribute to the reconciliation of cash and collateral positions and support reporting to financing banks

Support traders in tender preparation (e.g., bid/performance bonds, financing terms, cost estimations)

Assist Structured Trade Finance team in preparing documentation and supporting deal structuring

Liaise with operations teams to help resolve documentary or trade finance-related queries

Participate in reviewing collateral documents (e.g., letters of credit, bank covers, insurance), ensuring proper coverage with guidance from the team

Help with the preparation and follow-up of general banking facility documentation

Support in reviewing and commenting on collateral positions and borrowing base certificates
Competencies
