You will report to the Senior Manager Standards Development, and will be responsible for managing industry standards setting activities within specific domains of the Enhanced Distribution portfolio.
You will be part of a broader team called Industry Architecture and Passenger Standards that is managing development of end-to-end Airline Passenger Industry Standards. These standards enable passengers to buy, change and consume products/services from Airlines directly or via intermediaries.
• Guiding the industry to build consensus on industry standards. This includes helping airlines define and document business requirements that drive the development of data exchange standards. It also includes the development of standard processes and workflows, and the description of these within Implementation Guides, Recommended Practices and Resolutions.
• Managing logistics of group activities within IATAs online collaborative environment, web and conference call facilities and face to face meetings. This includes agendas, facilitating meetings and documenting outcomes while ensuring compliance with IATA standards development methodology, governance and regulatory requirements is maintained at all times.
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert on any matter which touches the portfolio. For the Enhanced Distribution portfolio this will include the general landscape of airline distribution, in today’s environment (with fares, availability, reservations and tickets) and within and Offer and Order
Management environment. This also includes data exchange standards and messaging technologies, and non-functional aspects of industry data exchange.
• Collaborate closely with industry groups working on process improvement and industry transformation and manage the delivery of any relevant initiatives as required.
• Maintain close relationships with member airlines, Strategic Partners, industry stakeholders and regulators as appropriate on key issues.
• Manage projects within the domain, which may include standards development but also broader industry activities crossing over all of IATA's functions.
• Manage internal awareness activities to ensure IATA teams are aware of all activities that are taking place, and that local and regional IATA teams can be leveraged to encourage member participation in activities.
• Support FSDS-Products in developing new products and services and Operations in areas of resolutions policies and customer services.
• Support the broader Architecture and Passenger Standards team
• University degree in engineering, mathematics or Aviation / air transport
• A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in areas such as distribution, revenue management, IT, revenue accounting. This includes general knowledge of systems and solutions supporting end-to-end airline distribution processes including pricing, reservations, ticketing, airport delivery, proration and revenue accounting, and the commercial objectives of airlines that drive these processes. An established network of contacts in this area is an advantage.
• Familiarity with XML (and related technologies) as a data and messaging format is favorable.
• Experience in data and/or business modeling is an advantage and understanding of APIs and web services is desirable.
• Knowledge of IATA’s Modern Airline Retailing program, and associated changes to industry processes and technology.
• Knowledge of industry standards, IATA standard-setting groups and industry data exchange standards (teletype, EDIFACT, XML) will be an an advantage.
• Project management skills and knowledge of Jira Administration and Confluence will be an advantage
• Experience speaking to large audiences.
