Your role and responsibilities

As the Gearless Mill Drive (GMD) Service Engineering Manager, you will lead a dynamic team of service engineers to deliver comprehensive services to our customers. These services include remote and on-site support, installation and commissioning, maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, back-office engineering, consulting, retrofit engineering, customer training and 24/7 customer support.You will play a crucial role in formulating strategic plans, allocating resources effectively, and ensuring the delivery of services that meet contractual and financial objectives. Additionally, you’ll drive continuous improvement efforts in engineering processes and procedures, strengthening both the team’s capabilities and the overall design.The work model for the role is: #LI-hybrid This role will contribute to the GMD Business Line globally, with stakeholders including customers, engineering service teams of local ABB entities, internal service sales teams, life cycle management, quality team and various engineering disciplines.You will be mainly accountable for:• Leading the service engineering team, focusing on on-time delivery, quality improvement, and margin enhancement. Furthermore, Building and functionally leading a global team of GMD service experts to foster collaboration across regions. Interacting with other departments such as sales, project management, service, product management or R&D, for forecasting of activities and workload planning as well as coordinating the activities of local and global GMD-certified engineers for service and field operations.• Ensuring that projects and operations adhere to sound methodologies and execution practices, in compliance with internal standards and contract specifications.• Spearheading initiatives to improve engineering processes, streamline commissioning, and enable quicker onboarding of new engineers. Additionally, proactively suggesting product and quality improvements, sharing insights within the ABB organization.Our team dynamicsYou will be joining a team of senior service engineers, where you will have the opportunity to mentor and build the next generation of engineers.

Qualifications for the role

• A degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong background in engineering leadership, with 5+ years of experience in GMD, drive systems, or relevant industrial sectors.
• Advanced knowledge of relevant tools and methodologies used in the engineering or service field.
• Strong leadership abilities with a focus on team development, process improvement, cross-functional and cross-cultural collaboration.
• Fluent in English (additional language skills are a plus).
