For our client, a dynamic trading company, we are actively looking for a dynamic Trade Finance Specialist to join their finance team based in Geneva. This role supports the financial and transactional tasks of the Trade Finance Manager and CFO. The successful candidate will handle various aspects of trade finance, bank negotiation, and deal execution, ensuring the smooth flow of transactions from contract initiation to final payment.
This is a highly visible role with exposure to financial institutions and external stakeholders, requiring a high degree of autonomy and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support trade finance activities across a wide range of financing structures and products.
- Assist with presenting deals and documentation to banks and insurance companies.
- Liaise directly with banks to negotiate financing terms, structure credit facilities, and manage amendments.
- Manage and monitor financial transactions and ensure timely settlement of deals.
- Work alongside the CFO and Trade Finance Manager to optimize financing strategies and support ongoing trades.
- Oversee the movement of a deal from inception to completion, ensuring all financial conditions are met for successful payment.
- Collaborate with internal trading, operations, and accounting teams to align financial processes with trade flows.
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation for audit, compliance, and reporting.
- Maintain regular communication with banks and insurance partners, serving as a key point of contact.
- Ensure proper risk mitigation through financial instruments and insurance coverage.
- Drive improvements in trade finance processes and support digitalization/automation efforts when possible.
Requirements:
- Experience working in a trade finance, banking, or trade accounting environment is essential.
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to assess deal structures and payment flows.
- Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills, especially with financial institutions.
- Strong academic background, with Swiss qualification preferred.
- Strong communication skills in English & French (additional languages are a plus).
- Self-starter with the ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team.
- Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Prior exposure to commodity trading or a trading house is a strong advantage.
