The Position
Analytical Chemist with Expertise in Mass Spectrometry for characterization of Peptides and Oligonucleotides(temporary contract for 2 years)
Global Technical Development (PTD) has the mission to develop transformative medicines for patients. Therefore, PTD actively collaborates and develops creative technical solutions to bridge early-stage, late-stage and commercial product needs, reliably deliver the pipeline and supply quality products to patients.
The “Hyphenated & Special Technologies (HST)” section is part of the Analytical Research & Development department within PTD. We provide key scientific customer support mainly with high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) and separation sciences. More than 20 mass spectrometry experts in HST verify the safety and quality of our molecules, by identity testing, characterization and quantification of e.g. unwanted impurities. Our portfolio includes small molecules as well as peptides and oligonucleotides.
The opportunity:
-
You will characterize synthetic peptides and oligonucleotides, including the qualitative and quantitative determination of related impurities mainly by liquid chromatography coupled to high-resolution tandem mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS/MS).
-
You will develop complex LC-HRMS workflows using state-of-the-art MS instrumentation and fragmentation techniques.
-
You will spend approximately 50 to 75% of your time doing hands-on work with various analytical systems and software to support daily business operations.
-
You will oversee and coordinate analytical requests within a project, including direct communication with stakeholders and colleagues (e.g., analytical project leaders).
-
You will support cross-functional teams (including, for example, process development, manufacturing, and regulatory affairs) as a subject matter expert.
Who you are:
As a suitable candidate you bring a Master or a PhD in natural science (chemistry, pharmacy, food chemistry, environmental chemistry, biochemistry or equivalent) with hands-on experience in LC-HRMS of (synthetic) peptides and/or oligonucleotides.
Further qualifications are:
-
You have proven practical experience in the development and optimization of chromatographic and MS methods and you are well-familiar with the corresponding MS software.
-
You are interested in data & digital topics and keen on using IT applications to simplify data evaluation and reporting.
-
You are multitasking with a pragmatic, proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
-
You are an excellent team player with good communication skills, open and curious and you are comfortable working with colleagues in a matrix environment.
-
Personal growth and a drive for continuous learning are key trades of your personality.
-
Very good knowledge of spoken and written English. German is a plus.
Your complete application includes your up to date CV and a motivation letter.
