Head of Quality Management

ID Quantique (IDQ) is the world leader in quantum technologies with applications in the field of photons detection and networks security. IDQ is organized in two business units. In its Quantum-Safe business unit, IDQ develops and commercializes cryptographic solutions, designed to protect data for the long-term future against threats such as quantum computing. The company provides quantum-safe network encryption, secure quantum key generation and quantum key distribution solutions, as related services to the financial industry, enterprises and government organizations globally. In its Quantum Sensing business unit, the company develops and commercializes optical instrumentation products.

ID Quantique is seeking a Head of Quality Management to drive its quality strategy and ensure excellence across all operations. This role requires extensive experience in both manufacturing and engineering domains (Electronics, Optics, Software) and a hands-on approach to fostering a culture of continuous improvement. As a key leader, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance quality processes, ensure compliance with industry standards, and uphold the highest levels of reliability and performance throughout the company.

This position is based in Geneva and reports directly to the COO.

Key Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Define the company vision for Quality Management, and ensure its execution through a well-thought strategy.
  • Lead and maintain the deployment of the Quality Management System (QMS) and maintain compliance with ISO: 9001:2015 standard.
  • Act as lead auditor for internal quality audits including audit planning, execution, reporting.
  • Support and manage customers or evaluation authorities’ audits
  • Drive continuous improvement of the QMS based on targeted improvement areas identified during customer and internal audits.
  • Lead Process Improvement inside Engineering, in particular around our Agility framework
  • Act as a Quality Officer inside some of our international R&D projects.
  • Initiate and manage quality issue resolution for complaints and nonconformances: root cause analysis and CAPA implementation as required.
  • Implement and maintain quality metrics for business strategy.
  • Lead trainings on QMS and provides quality mentoring to all departments.
  • Assist procurement in audits and inspections of subcontractors and suppliers to determine compliance with appropriate standards and regulations.

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in scientific or engineering disciplines is strongly preferred.
  • +5-8 years of proven experience with ISO 9001 compliant QMS, especially in a manufacturing and/or design engineering environment.
  • +3-5 years of proven experience with Agile frameworks, and concrete understanding of their implementations. Other engineering experiences (e.g. CMMi) a plus.
  • Demonstrated capability in coaching individuals and teams.
  • Positive and facilitator mindset is key, with strong desire to have an impact in the company.
  • Experience in Product Quality Assurance for Space or Avionics Projects would be a plus.
  • Self-driven, action and results oriented, hands-on, open-minded.
  • English must have with above average writing skills.
  • Certified auditor and knowledge of ISO14001:2015 are a plus.
