TENURE-TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSOR AT AN ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP OR
ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR
Area of specialisation: Sociology of Gender and Sport Full-time position: 100%
Profile
- PhD in social sciences, sport sciences or equivalent qualification
- Academic teaching experience in the sociology of gender and sport
- Proven research record in the sociology of gender and sport
- Good links with international research networks in the field
- Ability to attract external research funding
- Proficiency in French and English, orally and in writing
- Ability to teach in French within two years.
Teaching (45%)
Six hours a week of teaching throughout the year at Bachelor’s (BA) and Master’s (MA) level:
- Sport and gender, theoretical approaches and case study, MA seminar, 56 hours/year (equivalent to 2 hours a week throughout the year), 6 ECTS credits
- Gender and sport: international sporting organisations and international comparisons, MA lecture course 56 hours/year (equivalent to 2 hours a week throughout the year), 6 ECTS credits
- The sociology of sport, BA course-seminar, 56 hours/year (equivalent to 2 hours a week throughout the year), 6 ECTS credits
The post-holder will supervise Master’s dissertations and PhD theses.
A release from two hours’ weekly teaching / year will be granted during any pre-tenure period. Research (45%)
The post-holder will pursue research in the sociology of gender and sport. They will also conduct research in conjunction with international sporting organisations, which are well represented in the local context. They will be expected to produce international-level academic research publications.

The post-holder will also collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Centre for Sports Research (CIR Sport) and the future Global Observatory for Gender Equality & Sport (UNESCO).
They will also seek external funding, in particular from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). Administrative responsibilities (10%)
In accordance with statutory requirements and in the name of collegiality, the post-holder will take on any administrative tasks that may be assigned to them by the Institute, Faculty, University or university decision-making bodies.
Institutional environment
The post is located in the Institute of Sports Sciences at the University of Lausanne (ISSUL) and the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences.
