The Position
The Institute of Human Biology (IHB) is a pioneering research center located in Basel, Switzerland, advancing the field of human biology through cutting-edge research using human model systems. At IHB, we foster a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment where biologists, engineers, and data scientists work together to push the boundaries of translational research. We are closely associated with Roche’s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development (pRED), and we collaborate with leading academic institutions both locally and internationally to drive innovative science and meet global challenges.
We are seeking Senior Group Leaders to establish independent and exploratory and innovative research programs at IHB. These roles are ideal for experienced scientists who have successfully led a research group and are now ready to take their scientific leadership to the next level. You will receive a very competitive funding package to support the establishment and growth of your research group, consisting of 8 members plus 1 PI.
As a Senior Group Leader, you will engage in collaborations with renowned academic institutions, such as ETH Zürich and EPFL, as well as industry leaders in biopharma. You will have access to an extensive network of experts and cutting-edge technologies, including Roche’s core facilities. This position offers you the opportunity to lead impactful research, collaborate on global projects, and mentor junior scientists while shaping the future of human biology.

Are dedicated to advancing research in human model systems across Immunology, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Metabolism, and Oncology.

Possess a strong drive to uncover the fundamental biology of health and disease, and a commitment to translating scientific discoveries into transformative therapies in partnership with pRED and other Roche scientists.
