The Team
The AHL Investment and Data Implementation (IDI) team is organised into small cross-functional teams, spanning Hong Kong, London & Sofia, with responsibilities for the implementation of all AHL new business (Funds, Investment strategies, new asset classes, new markets, etc.), the integrity of the inputs (data & parameters) and outputs (model signals) from the systematic models and long-term strategic development of our systematic trading platforms and processes.
IDI work closely with Portfolio Managers, Quantitative Research, Trading, Technology, Risk, Business Management, and external counterparts to ensure the smooth running of the end-to-end trading process, testing, and implementation of portfolio research changes across a variety of research and strategic platform initiatives.
To achieve this efficiently and effectively, IDI leverages both the varied background of its members, including Computer Science, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Business Management and Finance, plus a combination of an extensive relationship network spanning across all of Man Group (not just within AHL). The team also leverages their wide skillset including empirical research, Technology (namely Python and SQL), creativity, project management and critical thinking.
The Role
IDI are seeking a highly motivated professional with strong communication and data analytics skills with the ability to consistently apply critical thinking to a wide range of business problems.
IDI members are responsible for the day-to-day management and oversight of AHL’s systematic trading system and models, data integrity, the accurate implementation of all new business initiatives, new research ideas and risk management parameters as well as collaborating with an array of stakeholders and coordination of projects.

Key Responsibilities:
- Accountability for the ongoing drive for data integrity (market & static) used for systematic trading algorithms and by the quantitative research teams
- Utilise data analytics techniques (preferably in Python) to interrogate and visually represent structured and unstructured data related to AHL investment activity
- Detect, diagnose and resolve issues with AHL trading models and the systematic trading system
- Collaborate with and lead peers across AHL to define, deliver and own resilient operating models and robust business processes
- Leverage technology to enhance, automate and streamline daily investment management processes
- Design, implement and support the architecture of AHL’s trading environment, including data aggregation, position management, component monitoring and quantitative implementation
- Collaborate with technology teams across Man Group to design, steer and test strategic developments across various platforms
- Develop a thorough understanding of Man Group systems and use this to actively identify and resolve time-sensitive issues.

Required:
- 2+ years of relevant work experience in data analytics and/or investment management
- Ability to simultaneously mange many workstreams and competing priorities
- Dependable judgement under pressure
- Strong verbal and written communication
- Data management experience
Preferred:
- Experience steering or materially delivering into complex projects
- Ability to effectively utilise SQL and python, with its relevant libraries (e.g. NumPy/SciPy/Pandas), for data analysis and process automation
- Ability to draw conclusions and portray findings by studying and visually representing structured and unstructured data
- Working understanding of the financial assets traded by AHL, including futures, FX, equities, options & bonds
Personal Attributes:
- Strong academic record and a degree with high mathematical and analytical content
- Intellectually robust with a keenly analytic approach to problem solving
- The ability to distil down complex problems to facilitate timely issue resolution and communication
- Focus on delivering value to the business with continuing efforts to improve process
