Associate, Delivery Unit - GL C - Defined Duration until December 2026

The Global Fund Delivery Unit drives the delivery of key organizational priorities and initiatives that will allow the Global Fund to enhance its performance and end the epidemics of AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria.

Under the leadership of the Manager, Delivery Unit and with support and guidance from the Lead, Delivery and Senior Associates, the Associate, Delivery Unit supports the operational delivery of organizational priorities. The projects assigned are targeted towards making mission-critical impact. The role of an associate is responsive to the scope of each individual projects, and can range from program and project manager, to analyst, implementor and change coordinator. The role includes identification, set-up, design and execution of complex initiatives aimed at achieving organizational priorities and fostering of collaboration both within the Secretariat and across the Global Fund Partnership.

Through diverse analyses and activities, the Associate, Delivery Unit will diagnose performance, prioritize improvement opportunities, build recommendations, develop detailed and achievable action plans, and accelerate their implementation. In addition, they will implement best practice project and change management to support and drive effective implementation. The Associate, Delivery Unit will facilitate the buy-in of key stakeholders across different levels and will drive on-the-ground results.
For assigned projects, the Associate will build relationships and collaborate with different departments across the Global Fund. Additionally, the incumbent will leverage organizational learning and best practices from previous experiences to drive effective implementation.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management, Performance and Change Management:

  • Works with the Manager,  Lead, and Senior Associates of the Delivery Unit to successfully define, structure and implement key transformational and continuous improvement initiatives across the Secretariat in alignment with organizational priorities.
  • Applies leading practice approaches and methodologies to identify and diagnose issues, prioritize required analyses, and translate data into meaningful insights and solutions for implementation.
    • Analyses and synthesizes disparate findings to generate fact-based insights.
  • Actively drives delivery of priorities and projects assigned to the Delivery Unit.
  • Effectively monitors project progress, performance, quality standards and mitigates risks to drive performance across priorities of the Delivery Unit.
  • Applies key change management capabilities to support effective and sustainable delivery of priority projects.

Coordination, stakeholder management and collaboration:

  • Builds trustful collaborative relationships with teams and senior management at various levels across the Secretariat.
  • Fosters collaboration within the organization, where necessary to accelerate delivery of organizational priorities.
  • Coordinates information sharing, and thorough understanding of the delivery path across key stakeholders, to enable coordinated initiative implementation and performance delivery.
  • Seeks feedback from project teams, end-users and external stakeholders to share ideas and best practices and continuously optimize.
  • Prepares materials for presentation to senior leaders within the organization, including the Management Executive Committee, Extended Leadership Team, and individual Department Heads

Teamwork and Collaboration:

  • Contributes to a high performing team culture, striving for the highest standards of excellence and performance.
  • Proactively supports continuous improvement in the work of the Delivery Unit team (e.g., supports interdependencies and synergies across projects, effective team communication and collaboration).
  • Enhances project design and delivery approaches based on lessons learned and feedback gathered to foster continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • University degree within the area of Business Administration, International Development, Public Policy, Global Health, or any other relevant field

Desirable:

  • Business process improvement or organizational change experience and/or qualifications

Experience

Essential:

  • Working knowledge and understanding of project management principles and application in multicultural settings including International Public/Private Organization.
  • Relevant, post-university work experience in strategy management, process and performance management, and project management.
  • Demonstrated change management expertise with the ability to deliver impactful changes with minimal disruption to an organization.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and delivering on timelines with tight deadlines and across disciplines.
  • Evidence of effective and successful stakeholder management at operational and management levels within an organization.
  • Significant experience preparing high-quality, professional documents for senior audiences.
  • Experience within multi-cultural and international environments and organizations.

Desirable:

  •  A minimum of 2-4 years relevant experience in transformations, organizational effectiveness, strategy and/or performance improvement, inclusive of strategy consulting experience.
  • Experience serving in a support capacity with Executive leaders.
  • In-country work experience in LMICs/ countries with programs supported by The Global Fund.

Competencies

Languages:

An excellent knowledge of English and preferably a good working knowledge of French. Knowledge of other languages would be an asset.
