The Department of Fundamental Microbiology offers a postdoctoral position in microbial meta-community analysis.
Expected start date : 01.08.2024
Contract length : 2 years
Activity rate : 100%
Workplace : University of Lausanne
The lab of Environmental and Evolutionary Microbiology has an open position for a postdoctoral student to study microbial meta-community formation. The major aim is understand how small species groups interact within fragmented environments. The work consists of building and growing meta-communities from individual cells of mixed or pure cultures through microfluidic droplet formation. To characterize the multitudes of emerging interspecific interactions, we aim to apply microdroplet sequencing, by which individual communities growing in droplets can be tagged and differentiated.
The project will be conducted in collaboration with PhD students and postdocs within the group, and further with members of the National Centre of Competence Research in Microbiomes (https://nccr-microbiomes.ch/).
- PhD thesis in experimental microbiology and community analysis
- Demonstrated interest and skills in bioinformatics
